POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of over 3,800 senior police officers, including two Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), ten Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and seventeen Commissioners of Police (CPs), following their successful performance in promotion examinations and oral interviews conducted by the Commission.

The approvals were granted at the Commission’s plenary meeting held in Abuja on 29 October 2026, presided over by its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, psc, NPM.

Two AIGs, Olaolu Adegbite, Head of INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, and Dankombo F. Morris, who heads Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, were promoted to the rank of DIG.

Adegbite holds a BA in Russian Language from the University of Lagos and an MA in Philology from the Pushkin Institute, Moscow. He is an MFR national honour recipient, a member of the FBI National Academy Associates and an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School. He previously served as Director of Operations at the EFCC.

Morris, who hails from Gombe State, holds a BA in History from the University of Maiduguri and a Diploma in Police Science. He previously served as Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State.

The ten officers elevated to the rank of AIG are Omosanyin Olusegun, Ogbodo Ugobueze, Ohagwu Felix Ndukwe, Taylor Lennox Olanrewaju, Regina Cosmas Udoette, Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo, Nwogoh Martin, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, Ibrahim D. Gotan and Danjuma I. Yahaya.

The seventeen officers promoted to the rank of CP are Nache Bashir Liman, Sirajo Lawal Salihu, Ayeleye Adegboyega E., Isiaka O. Salau, Usman Shaik Adamu, Aminu Maiwada Garba, Abdulkarim Musa Waziri, Muhammad Yusuf Adamu, Sani Adamu Nufawa, Bello M. Adamu, Okezie Chikezie C., Aminu Usman Gusau, Abiodun Onuoha, Salisu Bello Fago, Adegoke A. Alani, Wuwa Auwal Muhammad and Benedict U. Agbo.

The Commission also approved the following promotions:

• 85 ACPs to DCPs, including Dr. Ruth Oyinmearelu Okunbo, Isah Adejoh and Mannir Yusuf Gafai.
• 49 CSPs to ACPs, including Danjuma Ribah, Peter Ajah Oluohu, Effiom Okon, Emmanuel Kayode and Mohammed Bello Goshe.
• 245 SPs to CSPs, including Josephine Adeh, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Abah James, Okere Romanus, Ugochukwu Ozoude Alex, Vincent Elekwa, Umar Sani and Mustapha Mohammed.
• 498 DSPs to SPs, including Isa Osu, Samaila Amadu Bangajiya and Akadu Godwin.
• 3,218 ASPs to DSPs, including Dauda Yusuf Olatunji who is the Staff Officer Administration to the Inspector-General of Police, Force Headquarters, Abuja; Frank Okafor; Samson Sule; Ibrahim Abuh; Sarauta Mohammed Mohammed; and Yusuf Mukarram Ado.

Congratulating the newly promoted officers, the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), urged them to regard their promotions as motivation to improve their performance and commitment to duty.

He emphasised that greater responsibilities now rested on them to protect lives and property, maintain law and order, and discharge their duties with professionalism and dedication.
