Today, we celebrate a man whose professional journey reflects the power of knowledge, the strength of discipline, the value of integrity and the rewards of unwavering commitment to duty.

With immense joy, pride and admiration, we congratulate DSP Dauda Yusuf Olatunji (4God), on his well-deserved promotion from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), approved by the Police Service Commission on 29 October 2026.

This elevation is more than a change in rank; it is a remarkable milestone in the journey of a man whose dedication, intellectual capacity, professional versatility and commitment to service continue to distinguish him in his chosen career.

DSP Dauda Yusuf Olatunji is a remarkable blend of academic excellence, technological innovation, administrative competence and public service. His educational background, spanning Computer Science, Information Technology and Education, reflects a lifelong commitment to learning, intellectual development and the practical application of knowledge.

With qualifications that include MSc in Computer Science, BSc in Computer Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, another MSc in Information Technology and specialised training in data communications at Huawei University (Certified Huawei DataCom Engineering), he has consistently demonstrated the importance of combining knowledge with practical experience.

His professional journey has also embraced teaching, lecturing, technology training, software engineering and information and communications technology. These experiences have equipped him with the ability to analyse problems, develop solutions, manage responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to institutional development.

One of his notable contributions to the Nigeria Police Force is the development of the Nominal Roll Management System and Leave Management System, technological solutions that demonstrate his initiative, creativity and determination to apply ICT to administrative efficiency.

These achievements speak to a mind that does not merely identify challenges but seeks practical ways to overcome them.

In his capacity as Staff Officer, Administration, to the Inspector-General of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, DSP Olatunji serves in a demanding administrative environment that requires sound judgment, confidentiality, discipline, attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.

Such a responsibility calls for more than professional knowledge. It demands maturity, loyalty to duty, discretion, administrative intelligence and the ability to work effectively within a highly structured institution.

His career reflects the importance of these qualities. His experience across different professional fields has strengthened his capacity to contribute to administration, coordination, documentation, technological advancement and institutional efficiency.

We recognise in him a professional who understands that public service is not merely about occupying an office, but about adding value to the institution, improving the system and making a meaningful difference through responsible service.

What makes DSP Dauda Yusuf Olatunji worthy of celebration is not his new rank alone but the qualities and experiences that have shaped his professional identity.

His intelligence is demonstrated through his academic pursuits, technological innovations and ability to apply knowledge to practical challenges.

His commitment is reflected in his sustained professional development, willingness to accept responsibility and dedication to the service of the Nigeria Police Force.

His versatility is evident in his ability to bridge education, information technology, software development and police administration.

His integrity represents an enduring professional value: the understanding that public office is a trust, that responsibility must be exercised with conscience and that genuine achievement is measured not only by personal advancement but also by the value one contributes to others. He is a man of solution as he always think 1000 times ahead of others.

Above all, his journey reminds us that excellence is not accidental. It is cultivated through discipline, strengthened by experience, sustained by character and demonstrated through consistent service.

We firmly believe that professional advancement is most meaningful when it recognises the capacity to shoulder greater responsibilities. DSP Olatunji's successful completion of the promotion process, including the required examinations and oral interview, marks an important stage in his professional journey.

His elevation to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police is an occasion to celebrate his progress and encourage him to continue distinguishing himself through professionalism, humility, diligence and innovation.

As he assumes the responsibilities associated with his new rank, we trust that he will continue to uphold the values of the Nigeria Police Force, contribute to improved institutional performance and remain committed to the protection of lives and property.

Dear DSP Dauda Yusuf Olatunji, we celebrate not only the officer you have become but also the knowledge you have acquired, the challenges you have confronted, the solutions you have developed and the professional values you continue to uphold.

Your journey demonstrates that a person can be an educator, a technologist, an innovator and a dedicated public servant while continuing to grow within a demanding professional institution.

May this promotion open greater doors of opportunity, wisdom, influence and service. May you find the strength to meet the demands of your new rank, the humility to continue learning, the courage to stand by what is right and the wisdom to turn every responsibility into an opportunity for meaningful impact.

We encourage you to keep building, keep innovating, keep learning and keep serving with integrity. Let your achievements speak, let your character stand firm and let your contributions create a lasting legacy.

Congratulations once again, DSP Dauda Yusuf Olatunji, on your well-deserved promotion!

You have earned this moment of recognition, and we celebrate you with pride.

“True distinction is not measured solely by the rank a person attains, but by the intelligence that solves problems, the integrity that guides decisions, the commitment that sustains excellence and the service that leaves a lasting impact.”

President Bola Tinubu’s ₦5.41 trillion security allocation in the 2026 budget underscores security as the foundation of national development.

President Bola Tinubu has proposed N5.41 trillion for security in the 2026 budget, making it the single largest allocation; its effective change for the vulnerable and poor masses

President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s proposal of ₦5.41 trillion for defence and security in the 2026 national budget marks a decisive statement of priority by the Federal Government. As the single largest allocation in a ₦58.18 trillion Appropriation Bill, the move underscores a long-held position of the administration: without security, development cannot take root. However, for this investment to translate into effectiv

e positive change, especially for the poor and vulnerable masses, it must go beyond military hardware and enforcement to deliver peace, livelihoods, justice and hope.

Security as a Gateway to Economic Relief for the Poor

For millions of Nigerians living in rural and peri-urban communities, insecurity is not an abstract policy issue, it is a daily reality. Farmers abandon fertile lands due to bandit attacks, traders shut down markets for fear of kidnapping, and transporters avoid entire corridors plagued by violence. The poor suffer the most because they lack alternatives.

If the ₦5.41 trillion security allocation successfully restores peace in farming belts, highways, forests, and waterways, the first beneficiaries will be ordinary Nigerians. Safe farmlands mean increased food production, lower food prices, and improved nutrition. Secure roads revive trade, reduce transport costs and make basic goods more affordable. In this sense, security spending becomes indirect social welfare, easing the cost-of-living burden on the masses.

Accountability: Turning Spending into Real Safety

President Tinubu’s insistence that security spending must deliver “clear accountability for outcomes” is critical. For too long, large defence budgets have failed to produce commensurate safety for citizens. If properly enforced, performance-based accountability can ensure that funds are directed toward intelligence gathering, community policing, modern surveillance, welfare of security personnel and rapid response systems, rather than waste and duplication.

When security agencies are better trained, motivated and equipped, abuses reduce and trust improves. This is especially important for the poor, who are often caught between violent criminals and heavy-handed enforcement. Security that protects human dignity is security that empowers the masses.

Reclassification of Armed Groups: Closing the Gaps

The decision to classify bandits, kidnappers, militias, violent cults and their financiers and enablers as terrorists represents a significant policy shift. This tougher legal framework can dismantle the networks that profit from insecurity, networks that often exploit poverty, unemployment, and weak governance.

By criminalising not just the gunmen but also their sponsors and political or community protectors, the state sends a strong signal that insecurity will no longer be tolerated as a business model. If implemented fairly and transparently, this approach can break the cycle where the poor are recruited as foot soldiers while the powerful escape accountability.

From Guns to Jobs: Security as a Foundation for Opportunity

Security spending must also support non-kinetic strategies, job creation, rehabilitation and reintegration. Many youths drawn into armed groups are products of extreme poverty and exclusion. A security architecture that combines force with education, skills acquisition, and economic inclusion can transform former conflict zones into centres of productivity.

When peace returns, private investment follows. Small businesses reopen, schools function, health centres operate, and humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most. In this way, security becomes the foundation upon which education, healthcare, and infrastructure can finally deliver results for the poor.

A Test of Impact, Not Just Intent

President Tinubu is right that “security remains the foundation of development.” Yet history shows that budgets alone do not secure nations' results do. For the poor masses to feel the impact of this ₦5.41 trillion allocation, Nigerians must see safer communities, cheaper food, freer movement, and renewed economic activity.

If this security investment is transparently managed, people-centred, and firmly linked to social and economic recovery, it can mark a turning point, where national security policy no longer serves only the state, but actively lifts the burden of poverty and fear from ordinary Nigerians.
